Marriage Reconciliation | Steve & Tracy's Story
Steve and Tracy’s story is about what happens when a marriage hits the point where love is still there, but hope feels thin. Steve didn’t grow up with much faith, and early on he came to believe being a Christian meant living perfectly, which made church feel more like pressure than life. Over time he pulled away, and as he stepped out of church, he also stepped into patterns that were slowly destroying him, drinking, gambling, drugs, and a depression that left him hating who he had become and what it was doing to his family. Tracy kept showing up to church without him, longing for their family to sit together, and learning how to fight for her marriage without trying to force it. She clung to a verse about winning your spouse by your actions, not your words, and for years she prayed, fasted, and kept bringing his name to God, even when she was angry, exhausted, and close to giving up.
When Steve finally walked into VFC in January 2023, he expected judgment and found something else, a place that felt safe enough to tell the truth. He says conviction followed, and he chose to give his life back to the Lord, not because everything was suddenly easy, but because he was tired of the man he’d become and wanted to be the husband and father God intended. The road still had real battles, including a breaking point where Tracy told him she was done, and a hard step into treatment at Rob’s Ranch that began changing something deeper in his heart. Over time, Tracy saw the shift become consistent, supported by pastors, small group, and women in the church who prayed with her when she couldn’t carry it alone. Today Steve marks his sobriety in days, not as a flex but as evidence of grace and community holding, and their marriage stands as a picture of reconciliation that didn’t come through religion, but through relationship. If you want to hear how they navigated the hardest moments, what finally moved Steve from resistance to surrender, and what helped their family rebuild, watch Steve and Tracy’s full story on YouTube.
